Orphans Know More is a relationally based partnership working to give orphans a Face, a Family and a Future. Our pilot project assists Ugandan families caring for 150 HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children.
We are sorry to disappoint those of you who have been so creative and committed to raising money for chickens and income generating projects in the last two years. The good news is the hens given are laying and eggs are being sold. Our Canadian agriculturalist, working with OKM in Uganda, has said it would still be great to have a few more hens this year. But we’re not talking hundreds!
So what are the other challenges? We want to distribute improved seed (more…)
Today is the last day of the Chicken Challenge! As I write, the current total has gone well above the target of 900 chickens. We now have 1148 chickens and counting! We send a big thank you to you all for your enthusiasm and generous support this year! The stories of many child- initiated events were so inspirational! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The families in Uganda will be overwhelmed by the love so many have expressed.
Be sure to keep checking our website for updates and upcoming events. The Peachey family, all 6 of them, who started OKM, will soon visit the families in Uganda.
We’re off to a great start for the Chicken Challenge! Check out the Chicken Challenge count here on our website…it’s climbing every few days towards our target of 900 chickens for the families in Uganda! We know many of you are out there supporting our families with great enthusiasm and creativity and we are very encouraged to hear what you are doing in your communities, schools and churches. If you need more resources please let us know and we’ll send them out to you.

Can you help our friends buy 900 chickens this Easter?
Orphans Know More assists African families who are fostering HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. Last year we also helped 10 Ugandan families start small income generating businesses raising chickens and goats to feed and support their children.
In the UK you can buy a chocolate Easter egg for £2.50.
In Uganda a family can buy a laying hen for £2.50.
Here at the Orphans Know More office we’re celebrating the successful completion of the Chicken Challenge! It all began on March 1st, 2006 with the initial target of 700 chickens. Not just any chickens, but egg laying hens that would enable our families in Uganda to set up small income generating poultry farms. Only 61 days later, you all can take a well deserved pat on the back for your incredible response and generosity. Together we have raised donations for 3121 chickens!! Please check back soon for stories on how these projects are progressing in Uganda. Thank you again for your incredible support!
When a chicken becomes a goat, or a pig, or even a brand new purpose built chicken home!
We are overwhelmed by the response you all have made to the Chicken Challenge. Today we’re celebrating reaching our initial target of 700 chickens! But the challenge isn’t over, your chickens can become something more to empower our Ugandan friends with income generating projects.
In chicken currency, 4 chickens can buy a pig or a goat and 14 chickens will buy materials for each family to build their own hen house.
So please keep your chickens coming! Until April 30th, the challenge goes on…
A Hertfordshire family today decided to make the Chicken Challenge a family affair and purchase a chicken for each member of their family, and one for luck! Thank you for helping our Ugandan friends this Easter. To see how you can get involved, check out the Chicken Challenge here.
Can you help our friends buy 700 hens this Easter?Orphans Know More is assisting 30 Ugandan families who have adopted 150 HIV/AIDS orphans. Seven of those families want to start small income generating poultry businesses to help feed and support their children.
In the UK you can buy a chocolate Easter egg for £2.50. In Uganda a family can buy a laying hen for £2.50.
Once our goal for hens is met, further donations will assist more families with other income generating projects. 100% of your donation goes to Africa.
