Dan was really happy to visit the first OKM-funded shop on his recent trip to Uganda. One of our goals is to enable families to run income-generating projects that provide training for the children, and funds to meet the needs of the families. Dorothy and Mable, both OKM mothers, are the co-initiators of this new stationery shop that supplies school children and local businesses. “It is in the middle of the town, so there is plenty of foot-traffic going by that is able to take advantage of the shop.” Dan noted. The older children from both families are helping on a part-time basis. This gives them experience in sales, book-keeping, ordering supplies, advertising and other related skills.
“I bought some paper-bead jewelry that the ladies had made, so I think I can claim to be their first-ever Kiwi customer!” he quipped.

Hi,
Really glad to see the shop is now open for business. I hope and pray that it brings in good income for the families.
