Sharon, from the Orphans Know More team, recently received a letter from Uganda.
Maureen wrote “When my parents abandoned me I thought the whole world had tumbled down on me.”
Thankfully a family was moved by her situation and took her in, giving her a new home. This is one of the families OKM have assisted in the last year, and what a year of changes this has been for them. They have been able to start a small business making jewelry.
Wonderfully, there has been interest in their handicraft, even from outside Uganda. Maureen helps by making the paper beads, fitting her work around school, a computer course and daily power cuts!!
Shining through everything she wrote was Maureen’s excitement about a place at university next September. In her own words, “It’s a dream come true. Orphans Know More has brought us a ray of hope and now we’ve got a future to look forward to, a bright one at that.”

This is an amazing story!
