On July 21st, Sarah Langley from Sir John Lawes school in Harpenden embarked on an adventure to help raise money for Orphans Know More. She flung herself from a plane at 13000 feet, free-falling at speeds up to 120mph, before landing safely in the fields below. Sharon, from the Orphans Know More team, recently received a letter from Uganda.

Maureen wrote “When my parents abandoned me I thought the whole world had tumbled down on me.”

Thankfully a family was moved by her situation and took her in, giving her a new home. This is one of the families OKM have assisted in the last year, and what a year of changes this has been for them. They have been able to start a small business making jewelry.

There were plenty of people, sun, blue skies, bagpipes and kilts at the Highland Gathering in Harpenden on Sunday the 16th of July. It was a fun day out for everyone! Orphans Know More had a stall with information and several games: ‘Beat the Goalie’ Football, Raffle, Lucky Dip and Bottle Tombola. It was a great success!
