When is a Chicken no longer a Chicken?

KIF_1489_1_1.jpgWhen a chicken becomes a goat, or a pig, or even a brand new purpose built chicken home!

We are overwhelmed by the response you all have made to the Chicken Challenge. Today we’re celebrating reaching our initial target of 700 chickens! But the challenge isn’t over, your chickens can become something more to empower our Ugandan friends with income generating projects.

In chicken currency, 4 chickens can buy a pig or a goat and 14 chickens will buy materials for each family to build their own hen house.

So please keep your chickens coming! Until April 30th, the challenge goes on…

Recent Trip to Uganda

Uganda TripIn early November 2005, three individuals left from London and Harpenden on behalf of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and Orphans Know More. Their challenge was to film and capture the essence of a crisis and a story of hope in the midst of it. The destination was Jinja, Uganda and the crisis; what to do with a population swamped by children labelled with the title and stigmatisation of being an HIV Orphan. Uganda has in excess of 2 million orphaned children and is now facing the dilemma of how to raise them in a supportive and caring environment. (more…)
